Patriot Act and librarians

NPR has a story on the changes of the Patriot Act and how it affects the librarians. They interview Michael Gorma, head of ALA as well as Joan Airoldi who was subpoenaed by the FBI. The most alarming thing I find is that currently if you are subpoenaed under the Patriot Act you are effectively placed under a gag order. The Senate decided to add some leniency to that gag order so you can now appeal the subpoena....but only after a year. A year!! come on.
