I must admit that as bizarre as the UAE is sometimes that do take the environment seriously. My wife recently hosted a tree week which was an attempt to promote the environment. I was also told by an ex-coworker that the company she works for is investing seriously in renewable energy and hopes to have the first fully "green" building in the near future. One of the largest discussions I have seen recently is the talk on plastic bags in grocery stores. The are a large environmental problem and it looks like the UAE is attempting to solve it by using a new technology named Ecocycling.
